Discover Monroe-West Monroe will host its 3rd annual Monroe-West Monroe Pumpkin Decorating Contest during the month of October. Participants are asked to decorate their pumpkin with a Monroe-West Monroe theme. They are encouraged to highlight the great things about Ouachita Parish. City of West Monroe receives EPA SWIFR Grant to expand recycling
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recently announced the City of West Monroe has been selected as a grant recipient of a Solid Waste Infrastructure for Recycling (SWIFR) grant to expand recycling services in the community. Grant fund in the amount of $997,199 has been awarded to the City of West Monroe to expand covered space and storage for receiving, processing and storing recyclables. The Northeast Louisiana Children’s Museum received a major boost towards the construction and educational programming of a new museum from one of this area’s most respected philanthropic organizations. The donation of $400,000 was made on July 28, 2023, by the Remembering Her-The Kitty DeGree Foundation. “Today’s donation is going to make a positive difference in the lives and educational experiences of thousands of children now, and for many years to come,” said Children’s Museum Director Melissa Saye.
