Recent high school graduates and college-age students are encouraged to apply for the SEE West Monroe AmeriCorps Summer Team. The SEE West Monroe AmeriCorps program allows participants to work flexible hours and get real-world experience as a mentor - all while getting paid to help the community. Team members are needed to serve this summer at the West Monroe Community Center by assisting with enrichment activities for local elementary students. Library gives tips to combat decline in literacy skills, hosts Downtown Story Time Stroll
Literacy rates are falling in Louisiana’s children. For National Library Week from April 4-10, the Ouachita Parish Public Library is combatting this decline by sharing tips for caretakers involved in children’s lives. According to a recent Louisiana Department of Education report, more than half of Louisiana children were below reading level in 2020. Free, ongoing COVID-19 testing now at ULM for campus and community
The Louisiana National Guard and Louisiana Department of Health are providing free COVID-19 testing beginning Tuesday, Jan. 19, at the University of Louisiana Monroe. Testing will be ongoing. Testing is available for ULM students, faculty, staff, and Louisiana residents ages 5 and up.
