NBC10 and FOX14 employees participated in sorting, bagging and transporting 4 tons of non-perishable food and water to the Wellspring to be distributed to area homeless veterans.
The food was purchased by customers at Mac’s Fresh Market locations in Monroe, West Monroe and Columbia by purchasing $8 pre-packaged bags, and from general donations from the public.
The event was a part of Nexstar Media Group’s annual Founder’s Day of Caring. A day in which all of Nexstar’s TV stations pick one way to give back to the community and volunteer their time on, or close to, the company’s founding anniversary date, June 17, 1996. KTVE/KARD has helped raise 34 tons of food in the 5 years of the food drive.
