531st Air Force Band to perform at Kiroli Park
The Air National Guard Band of the Southwest, historically known as the 531st Air Force Band, has a more than 60 year history of sustaining the traditions and heritage that has become the hallmark of military bands.
This 40-member concert band will provide patriotic and Americana music, from Sousa to Broadway to Motown. The Band's ensembles have performed across the country as well as for U.S. troops and foreign audiences in Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Qatar and elsewhere.
One of the reasons the band will perform in WM is that the director of ensembles for the 531st Air Force Band is Master Sergeant Michael J. Simoneaux, who performed with the Twin Cities Concert Band in 2000-2002.
