City of West Monroe announces Christmas Festival Day Schedule and Street Closures
The City of West Monroe has announced the schedule of events for this Saturday’s Christmas Festival activities including the 2023 Kiwanis of Greater Ouachita Christmas Parade. Saturday, Dec. 2 is considered a “Pedestrian Day” in downtown West Monroe. Visitors should make plans to park and walk to scheduled festivities in the downtown area. Activities taking place that day in downtown West Monroe include the following: 11 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. – food trucks and festivities in Alley Park 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Kiroli Park to open to the public at noon on Tuesday, Nov. 7
The City of West Monroe has announced that Kiroli Park will open to the public at noon on Tuesday, Nov. 7. The park has been closed since this summer while a new Kiroli Road Bridge was installed. The park will be open on Tuesday, Nov. 7 from noon to 5 p.m. Regular park hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. due to the recent time change. Admission is $1 per person. Kiroli Park will be open 7 days a week. ULM HERO Program trains over 600 first responders in first year
The University of Louisiana Monroe College of Pharmacy is proud to announce that the HERO program successfully trained over 600 first responders in its first year. The University of Louisiana Monroe School of Visual and Performing Arts is proud to present visual artist Rosemary Jesionowski on display at Bry Hall Gallery, 4101 desiard St., on ULM’s campus. The exhibition of photographs is titled “Born of This Volcano” and is on display through October 18, 2023. The exhibit will feature albumen prints, which is a print made using albumen paper, and was popular for photographic printing between 1850 and 1900. City of West Monroe receives EPA SWIFR Grant to expand recycling
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recently announced the City of West Monroe has been selected as a grant recipient of a Solid Waste Infrastructure for Recycling (SWIFR) grant to expand recycling services in the community. Grant fund in the amount of $997,199 has been awarded to the City of West Monroe to expand covered space and storage for receiving, processing and storing recyclables.
