Sparklight grant enables STEM Education

NELA Children’s Museum and Sparklight team up to enhance STEM educational opportunities through the museum’s exhibit space and outreach programming.

A grant from Sparklight will help the Northeast Louisiana Children’s Museum advance additional hands-on STEM (Science- Technology-Engineering-Mathematics) education for over 15 parishes. This grant brings fun and educational STEM programs to school students and visitors.

“We appreciate this grant that puts the skills that are taught in the classroom into hands-on, interactive experiences that expand learning  for the students,” said Children’s Museum Director Melissa Saye. Without Sparklight and this grant, many students and visitors would miss the opportunity for this important combination of learning and fun. This partnership helps us develop our future workforce at an early age, giving the students the opportunity to have an experience that might spark an interest in their potential future careers.”

“Sparklight is proud to support organizations like the Northeast Louisiana Children's Museum, which play a vital role in improving lives across the state,” said Charlie Oakes, Sparklight Senior Regional Director, Gulf Coast. “These nonprofits are the heartbeat of our neighborhoods, and we’re honored to help amplify their work through the Charitable Giving Fund.”
