The University of Louisiana Monroe Honors Program attended the annual meeting of the National Collegiate Honors Council in Kansas City, Mo., from October 30 -November 3. Kiroli Park to host Christmas Concert in the Park Nov. 25
The City of West Monroe and Kiroli Foundation will host “Christmas Concert in the Park” on Monday, Nov. 25 to kick off Christmas at Kiroli festivities at Kiroli Park. The event will include live entertainment on the Kiroli Park Bandstand featuring Jordan Sheppard beginning at 5:45 p.m. There will be free park admission into Kiroli Park beginning at 5 p.m. on November 25. ULM aviation student featured on the cover of national publication
A University of Louisiana Monroe aviation student has gained national exposure after being featured on the cover of the Fall 2024 edition of AviNation, a magazine that exists to attract, educate, and empower youth in aviation. Kamden Moore, a junior in the ULM Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Management program, wrote the cover story entitled “Limitless: Seeing What Hasn’t Been Seen” about his experience interning at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in the summer of 2024. Ouachita Parish Police Jury Approves Tax Break for Qualified First Responders
Ouachita Parish first responders, who own and occupy their homes and qualify for Louisiana’s Homestead Exemption, can benefit from a new property tax break. The Ouachita Parish Police Jury (OPPJ) unanimously adopted an ordinance allowing qualified first responders in Ouachita Parish to receive an additional Homestead Exemption. To qualify for this new benefit, a first responder must be a full-time public employee, residing in Ouachita Parish, whose duties include responding rapidly to emergencies.
