Ouachita Parish Schools hosted its annual Student of the Year Luncheon, sponsored by Centric Federal Credit Union on Monday, Nov. 19 at ULM's Bayou Pointe. CommuniHealth, West Monroe-West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce and ULM were also sponsors of the room-filled gathering. Students of the Year from 34 schools were in attendance representing fifth grade, eighth grade and twelfth grade students. Wreaths can be purchased to place on the headstone of a fallen soldier through Nov. 26 The City of West Monroe will host a wreath-laying ceremony at Hasley Cemetery as part of Wreaths Across America on Friday, December 13 at 10 a.m. at Hasley Cemetery. A University of Louisiana Monroe aviation student has gained national exposure after being featured on the cover of the Fall 2024 edition of AviNation, a magazine that exists to attract, educate, and empower youth in aviation.
