KTVE-KARD RAISES NEARLY 6 TONS OF FOOD & WATER TO HELP FEED AND HYDRATE HOMLESS VETERANS
NBC10 and FOX14 employees participated in sorting, and transporting over 5 tons of non-perishable food and water to the Wellspring to be distributed to area homeless veterans.
The food was purchased by customers at Mac’s Fresh Market locations in Monroe, West Monroe, Columbia, and El Dorado by purchasing $10 pre-packaged bags, and from general donations from the public.
The event was a part of Nexstar Media Group’s annual Founder’s Day of Caring. A day in which all of Nexstar’s TV stations pick one way to give back to the community and volunteer their time on, or close to, the company’s founding anniversary date, June 17, 1996. KTVE/KARD has helped raise nearly 45 tons of food in the 7 years of the food drive.
NBC10 and FOX14 would like to thank, to the City of Monroe for lending us a building to stage our food drive, the Parker Alexander Law Firm for graciously sponsoring this year’s food drive, Mac’s Fresh Market for selling and preparing the food bags, the Wellspring, the United Way of Northeast Louisiana, and Project South through the El Dorado VFW for distributing the food and water to homeless veterans in the Arklamiss, and of course our viewers and kind members of the community for making this year’s food drive a big success!
