OUACHITA LIVE
Downtown West Monroe will begin its 2022 Ouachita Live concert series on Friday, March 25 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Alley Park (located on the corner of Trenton and Natchitoches Streets). The free outdoor community concert series will take place the last Friday of every month from March through October. A food truck will be on-site and spirits will be available for the public to purchase from downtown restaurants. Attendees are asked to bring a chair to enjoy the show. The public is invited to attend.
The first concert will feature CoCo York and the Dan Sumner Band. Jazz and blues vocalist CoCo York has performed for United States Presidents, queens, and dignitaries all over the world. She honed her craft in the French Quarter of New Orleans, and she has recently moved back to the state where she began her impressive career. CoCo has recently stepped off the “fast-track” to take a breath and reinvent herself. It’s this community’s good fortune that she chose to do that near home, close to family and friends. Dan Sumner is an internationally acclaimed guitarist and music producer who has performed and toured the world. He is currently based in Monroe where he owns and operates Fort Sumner Studio.
City of West Monroe’s Main Street Director Adrienne LaFrance-Wells hopes the activities will encourage people to visit downtown. “The Ouachita Live concert series gives people a fun reason to come downtown and discover what we have to offer by providing a festive atmosphere with live music. For the season kickoff, we have the honor of welcoming an incredible talent, CoCo York, for one of her first live performances in our community.”
Cheese Louise food truck will be selling their gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches along with other unique menu items. Streetcar Snoballs will be selling authentic New Orleans style sweet treats.
The April concert will feature blues from Kent Burnside and his band. Kent is the grandson of Mississippi Delta Blues legend R.L. Burnside. Updates are available on the Downtown West Monroe Facebook page.
