Position: Membership Director
The Membership Director is responsible for the sales of new memberships within the West Monroe-West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce as well as retention of existing members. This position implements strategic direction for the organization’s growth within the membership area. This position plans, organizes and oversees services and events for members.  They will develop and direct annual planning relating to membership growth and membership retention. The position reports directly to the Chamber’s Executive Director.
 
Responsibilities:
1.     Contact, acquire and sell new Chamber memberships to businesses and organizations located throughout the Chamber’s service area;
2.     Schedule appointments and personal visits with prospective companies; 
3.     Achieve budgeted revenue goals;
4.     Develop partnerships and marketing/sponsorship programs and opportunities;
5.     Maintain current, up-to-date information on existing Chamber members including assigned representatives and contact information through Chamber Master; 
6.     Schedule personal visits with Current Chamber Members;
7.     Generate monthly billing for annual membership dues and review monthly dues collected, developing a retention and collections plan as needed;
8.     Cultivate and maintain an extensive knowledge of all Chamber programs, services, initiatives and activities; 
9.     Closely monitor industry trends and local issues impacting the Chamber’s membership sales and retention efforts; 
10.  Actively support and participate in Chamber events and programs;
11.  Work renewal accounts and targeted major accounts as assigned;
12.  Assist Chamber members in taking full advantage of their membership including participation, attendance, volunteerism and retention in the Chamber; 
13.  Act as staff liaison to Membership Chair;
14.  Represent the Chamber in a professional manner; and 
15.  Perform other job duties as assigned.
 
Required knowledge, skills and abilities: 

  1. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. 
  2. General knowledge of business practices, operations and needs. 
  3. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Board of Directors, employees, committees, members, governmental units, civic groups and the general public. 
  4. Ability to review and critically appraise program proposals and other complex issues. 
  5. Demonstrated commitment to and vision for the mission of the Chamber of Commerce. 
 
Work Environment: 
Duties of the Membership Director are performed from the Chamber office as well as off-site with travel required. Additionally, some weekend and evening hours are required and necessary to fulfill Chamber goals.
 
Flexible full time position, will be advertised until filled.
