Community Resource Developer
ARCO is seeking a passionate and results-driven Community Resource Developer to lead innovative fundraising and outreach efforts that support individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
GENERAL FUNCTION:
This administrative position addresses the financial and resource needs of the agency through ethical avenues of private fundraising and friend-raising that complement government funding. The Community Resource Developer cultivates financial and other resources to support individuals with developmental disabilities and their families, promoting community awareness, inclusion, and acceptance. This role works directly with the Executive Director to identify and implement strategies that meet ARCO’s fundraising and outreach goals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communication or similar field preferred
- 4 years of experience preferred
- Demonstrated success in the development and implementation of fundraising and awareness campaigns
- Demonstrated ability to successfully engage private funders (individuals, businesses, and grants) for the purpose of increasing funds or awareness that leads to funds or other resources
- Demonstrated ability to identify grant sources and to submit requests for these.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize all types of media successfully, including but not limited to traditional media sources and social media
- Demonstrated ability to develop, track, and evaluate cost to benefit analysis of specific efforts of revenue generating
- Demonstrated ability to be personally engaging and compelling when relating to individuals or small or large groups.
- To present information at a post-secondary level both verbally and in writing and with confidence
- Demonstrated ability to perform governmental processes according to the standards required
- Demonstrated ability to maintain an accurate and complete data system, research and interpret information captured
- Proficiency in developing professional communication tools (e.g., PowerPoint presentations, newsletters, flyers, letters)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- To provide funding stabilization through non-governmental means through the planning, conduction, and evaluation of a broad range of goal-oriented fundraising and awareness activities that include direct giving, special events, grant development, and marketing.
- To communicate clearly, timely and compellingly through highly developed writing, speaking, technical, and relationship building skills the needs of those with developmental disabilities and the positive results of ARCO’s response to these needs.
- To recognize the distinction of the various areas of market interest to ARCO - participants/families, staff, potential supported employers and business supporters, community leaders and resources, politicians, and the general public – and to conduct activities pertinent to each.
- To craft strong, accurate and compelling communications and activities to positively capture the interest of each market area and respond to their concerns. To research and deliver the most effective engagements of target audiences and to evaluate the outcomes for future efforts.
- To aptly use technical devices including cell phones, computers, tablets, still cameras, and video cameras.
- Ability to effectively communicate with audiences with interest
- To create platforms (social media, traditional media, personal testimonials, presenting at civic or community organizations, personal engagement at community events, personal contacts with community members, newsletters, direct mail, etc.) for awareness and engagement of individuals, targeted sectors, and at-large community.
- To research grant possibilities and to write proposals for grants. To assist with management and oversite of funded grants to assure that the objectives are being delivered and documented.
- To manage staff within the Resource Development Department according to the needs of the department and the agency policies regarding personnel.
- To work with other aspects of ARCO to develop specific resources when needed; for example, to assist with the identification of job opportunities for individuals while using strategies such as those of the Marc Gold Employment Strategies
- Personal travel as needed to advance ARCO’s mission
