Community Ventures (CV) Director

GENERAL FUNCTION:
This position will be the Assistant to the Community Ventures (CV) Director. This includes work with individuals being served and work with their families regarding the development of plans for the men and women participating in the CV Program and the overall needs of participants in the CV Program.  It includes work with the CV Program. Further it includes communication with external service coordinators, and State agents such as NEDHSA, LRS, DOTD and any others necessary to meet the requirements of the participants’ service needs, department needs and the regulations and procedures of the funding agents.  
This position requires flexibility and availability. Candidate must be able to work independently.
Qualifications:

  • Degree relative to QDDP and a minimum of one year of experience in field
  • Valid Louisiana driver’s license; insurable driving record
  • Dependable transportation for use on the job
  • Knowledge of disability and strategies to address strengths and needs
  • Knowledge of ICF/DD requirements and ARCO policy
  • Ability to manage complex, multi-dimensional operations according to policy
  • Ability to work any hours needed (flexible days and hours)
  • Ability to comprehend, articulate, and process information on a post-secondary level
Demonstrated ability to:
  • Implement program guidelines and standards as required by Medicaid and by ARCO
  • Assure individualized programs are developed according to assessed needs and carried out accordingly
  • Model behavior that represents the values of ARCO
  • Function according to the policies of ARCO
  • Safely transport passengers daily, 
    • Drive up to 4 developmentally disabled individuals to scheduled activities 
    • Drive between 70-100 miles each day 
  • Responsible for the care of 4 developmentally disabled individuals a minimum of 4 hours each day       
 

 
COMMUNITY VENTURES GROUP LEADER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The CV Group Leader performs duties according to assignments regarding the following:
  1.  Work with participants, families/legal representatives/advocates and ARCO staff to identify comprehensive needs and strengths of participants.  Further to work with Team Managers and Program Directors to identify the resources, interests, preferences, and strategies to craft services that respond to these strengths and needs on a long-term and day-to-day basis. 
  2. Attend and/or schedule quarterly/annual meetings for vocational services.  
  3. Conduct, write, and keep current comprehensive assessments on each participant and accordingly develop ARCO’s Plan of Care and related format for documentation of service delivery.
  4. Closely work with Team Managers for exchange of information that affects the types and amounts of service/s needed.  Work with Team Managers to develop goals, budgets, and schedules for each CPOC.  
  5. Report suspected abuse, neglect, exploitation, or extortion immediately on the day of discovery to the Department or Executive Director.
  6. Coordinate with external service coordinators and regional NEDHSA Waiver Unit to manage Waiver resources.  Attend meetings or otherwise communicate with external resources as required for the management of service plans and advocate for participants’ needs.  This includes annual plans, quarterly reviews, and revisions.
  7. Work with the Billing Director to track units used and submit revisions as needed.  
  8. Assure compliance with agency and governmental required policies.
  9. Assure that the 90L and any other eligibility process necessary for the Waiver program is completed as needed.
  10. Assist with admission/discharge phone calls, paperwork and meetings.
  11. Any other duties as assigned by CV Director.
  12. Use and permit ARCO’s use of electronic communication (tablets, real-time cameras, videos, etc.) and GPS tracking of activities for the business purposes of ARCO as described in the consents provided in specific training for these.   
  13. Capture and transmit Electronic Visit Verification accurately and timely as required by the State and by ARCO, if that is a function of the job. 
  14. Protect HIPAA information as required by law. To use an electronic tablet provided by ARCO for capturing and communicating HIPAA protected information including Electronic Visit Verification billing or other business, and to communicate with management through the use of this tablet. 
  15. Allow monitoring of all devices and applications used for work purposes, including those that are personal devices with which ARCO work or information is done or stored.
  16. Employees are expected to occasionally participate in a broad array of agency efforts where the work may differ from the typical functions of the job for which an employee was hired and to do so in a way that promotes the mission of the agency.  Employees are required to have their names, pictures, or videos used by ARCO in a way that informs a targeted group or general public of the agency’s work and mission.
 
PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:
This employee must:
  • Perform physical duties including, but are not limited to:
  • Lifting, carrying and or pushing supplies and light equipment necessary to assist in the routine cleaning in one’s personal office or workspace or to collect/carry office supplies.
  • Lifting without assistance a person or thing that weighs under 40 pounds; lift a person or thing that weighs over 40 pounds with assistance.  A reasonable consideration of the actual weight to be lifted should determine the number of people or the kind of assistance needed to lift a larger than 40-pound object or person.
  • Handling or positioning a person of any size where the person’s full body weight is being otherwise supported (chair, lift, using CPI measures, etc.).
  • Assisting a person getting into and operating lifts, wheelchairs, standers, or other adaptive equipment according to the manufacturer’s standards.
  • Performing household/grounds cleaning activities, including using tools and equipment necessary, at the ARCO facility or any other facility where ARCO work is done. 
 
  • Apply passive physical restraints using Crisis Preventative Institute methods and strategies as presented in training to prevent injury to the individual, another person, oneself, or property.
 
·      Attend to injuries using First Aid, discerning the difference when First Aid alone is not adequate and immediately engage emergency medical assistance.
 
·      Run or walk briskly when necessary to keep a participant safe or secure.
 
·      Work extended hours without rest when called for by the situation including, but not limited to, working as a fill-in, responding to an emergency, agency events, participation in workgroups or committees, conferences or seminars. 
 
·      Assist the participant with personal care needs.  This may include assisting with toileting, preparation of lunch, hands washing, and assisting with clean up after vomiting, saliva, mucus, etc. Always remember to respect the dignity of the individual.
 
 

 
EMOTIONAL FUNCTIONS:
·      Employee must be able to withstand abusive or rejective language, or physical aggression from program participants and demands of families that may seem unrealistic without becoming personally offended.
 
·      One of the most important aspects when dealing with persons with developmental disabilities is that their ability to understand language and its uses may be severely impaired.  As a result, employees may be subjected to behavior from persons with developmental disabilities that would be completely unacceptable from other employees or visitors to ARCO.  Therefore, abusive language of program participants may include racial slurs, derogatory statements, obscene gestures and language.
 
Further, to accept the functional and growth limits of participants in all areas without blame.
 
HOURS OF EMPLOYMENT: Typically, 35-40 Hours or more, depending on requirements to be achieved.  Must be Flexible

  • Typically, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., however, this job does require some evening and weekend work, you must be flexible.
