Who We Are

Pulpmill Services, Inc. (PSI) primary business is the manufacturing, installation, repair and refurbishing of pulping equipment, diversifying into industrial general construction including concrete, structural steel, piping and mechanical projects. PSI is a full-service fabrication, welding, and machine shop utilizing advanced CNC machines, water jet and plasma tables and large horizontal and vertical milling machines.

Summary/Objective

The Field Service Mechanic is responsible for various duties on the field service crew of Pulpmill Services. 

This position requires the employee to perform a wide variety of duties including, but not limited to the following key functions:

Essential Functions:

  • Work safely in high traffic areas. 
  • Perform hole/fire watch duties.
  • Use basic cleaning tools.
  • Read measuring tape in 1/16” increments.
  • Use metabo/grinder.
  • Measure/cut and bevel material as directed.
  • Owns personal supply of “Helper Tools”.
  • Basic bolt work.
  • Properly connect pipe flanges with gaskets and proper bolt sequence

Level I - all of the above plus:

  • Possess basic rigging knowledge.
  • Performs packing removal and installation.

Level II – all of the above plus:

  • Equipped with personal supply of “Mechanic Tools”.
  • Skilled in assembling, disassembling and moving heavy machinery and equipment.

Level III – all of the above plus:

  • Performs DD seal changes.

Competencies

  • Ability to communicate accurate information clearly in written form or verbally so that instructions can be followed with minimal chance of error. 
  • Ability to prioritize and make changes as needed. 
  • Display good attitude conducive to a mill and/or shop environment.
  • Be able to think quickly and critically in response to scope changes on small to large jobs and equipment. 
  • Ability to recognize when a sense of urgency is needed. 
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member with other personnel.

Work environment

Mills, Machine Shop and Fabrication Shop 

Physical demands

  • Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving your whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling materials.
  • Able to lift and carry loads up to 50 lbs.

Travel required

  • Must have reliable transportation to and from job sites.
  • Job sites can be up to 16+ hours from Monroe.

Required education and experience

  • 1-2 years industrial experience.

Preferred education and experience

  • Experience working in a mill setting.

Additional eligibility requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License or State Issued ID.
  • Able to pass a drug screen and background check.

Work authorization/security clearance requirements

  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

  • $17 - $25/hour (exact rate to be determined based on experience and qualifications)
