Who We Are

Pulpmill Services, Inc. (PSI) primary business is the manufacturing, installation, repair and refurbishing of pulping equipment, diversifying into industrial general construction including concrete, structural steel, piping and mechanical projects. PSI is a full-service fabrication, welding, and machine shop utilizing advanced CNC machines, water jet and plasma tables and large horizontal and vertical milling machines.

Summary/Objective

The Field Supervisor is responsible for managing a field crew at on-site jobs ensuring all safety rules are being adhered to. This position is also responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of employees and their assigned duties.

This position requires the employee to perform a wide variety of duties including, but not limited to the following key functions:

  • Be available as the on-site point of contact.
  • Estimate needed manpower for each job.
  • Provide qualified candidates to form and/or fill a crew.
  • Obtain job opportunities to ensure available work for crews. 
  • Set priority of workflow to ensure due dates are met.
  • Recommend, specify and requisition appropriate tooling for each job.
  • Ensure a safe work site and follow mill specific rules.
  • Coordinate all items needed to complete each job to include equipment, materials, employees, etc.
  • Assist in quoting with regards to employees needed, time estimates, and materials and tools needed.
  • Confirm PSI quality standards are met at all times.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues and/or equipment malfunctions. 
  • Perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Willing to learn and perform other tasks and duties as needed.

  • Ability to effectively manage a crew.
  • Ability to provide accurate information to co-workers by telephone, in written form, e-mail and/or in person. 
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly in written form or verbally so that instructions can be followed with minimal chance of error. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
  • Knowledge of protocol, safety standards, quality, etc. 
  • Ability to prioritize and make changes as needed. 
  • Display good attitude conducive to a field environment.
  • Be able to think quickly and critically in response to scope changes on small to large jobs. 
  • Ability to recognize when a sense of urgency is needed. 
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member with other personnel.

Required education and experience

  • Skilled in shut down work.
  • 5+ years of supervision experience.
  • Experience in a variety of pulp and paper mills.
  • Experience reading blueprints.

Preferred education and experience

  • Prefer 10+ years of millwright experience.

Additional eligibility requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License or State Issued ID.
  • Able to pass a drug screen and background check.

Work authorization/security clearance requirements

  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

Compensation

  • Total compensation $90k – $120k/annually (exact rate to be determined based on experience and qualifications)
