Children’s Coalition for Northeast Louisiana Presents $7,000 to The NELA Children’s Museum
The Children’s Coalition for Northeast Louisiana is proud to present a $7,000 check to The Northeast Louisiana Children’s Museum as part of its ongoing investment in early childhood education through School Readiness Tax Credit funds. The presentation will take place on Thursday, October 30 at 10:00 a.m. at The Children’s Museum, 323 Walnut St., Monroe, LA 71201. Community members are invited to attend, and media coverage is highly encouraged.
These funds will expand access to the Museum’s educational programming for 122 childcare centers across Region 8, ensuring young children have opportunities to learn and play whether through field trips to the museum or on-site experiences brought directly to childcare centers that cannot travel to Monroe. In addition, part of this funding will support a refresh and upgrade of the Baby Bayou exhibit, a special play space designed for children ages 0 to 2. Originally created and sponsored by the Children’s Coalition, Baby Bayou offers infants and toddlers a safe, engaging environment for early exploration and learning.
“This partnership is a perfect example of how local School Readiness Tax Credit dollars strengthen early childhood education in our region,” said Deidra Adair, Executive Director of the Children’s Coalition for Northeast Louisiana. “Together with the Children’s Museum, we are helping ensure that every child, no matter where they live, has access to hands-on, high-quality learning experiences.”
Melissa Saye, Executive Director of The Children’s Museum, shared her excitement about the partnership, saying, “We are thrilled to partner with the Children’s Coalition to make our programs more accessible than ever before. Through this support, we can take the Museum experience ”on the go”across Region 8, reaching children who may not otherwise have the opportunity to enjoy our educational exhibits and activities. This truly helps us fulfill our mission of inspiring a lifelong love of learning through play.”
Two childcare centers will be recognized at the presentation as participants in this partnership: Greater Realness Cathedral Child Care Center of Ouachita Parish and Tender Touch Nursery Central of Richland Parish.
