Grow NELA Appoints Brookley Valencia Barnes

Grow NELA, the regional economic development authority serving 10 parishes in Northeast Louisiana, announced today that Brookley Valencia Barnes has been hired as the Director of Economic Development. 

 

Barnes, a native of Birmingham, Alabama, has a wealth of experience in business development, strategic communication, and stakeholder engagement. She brings a proven track record of driving economic growth and delivering impactful community projects.

Her expertise in strategic planning and stakeholder engagement will be instrumental as we recruit new companies, new jobs, and new people to Northeast Louisiana.” 

 

As Director of Economic Development, Barnes will lead business recruitment efforts, increase awareness of the positive business climate in Northeast Louisiana, and work with regional partners to advocate for policies that benefit businesses throughout the entire 10-parish Northeast Louisiana region.

Barnes joins Grow NELA with an extensive background in economic development, having most recently served as Senior Portfolio Director at Retail Strategies. In this role, she managed a portfolio spanning four states and 21 client cities, focusing on retail recruitment and data-driven strategies to enhance local economies. She played a key role in securing major national businesses for communities in multiple states, throughout the United States.
