The Center for Children & Families Launches 2024 Christmas Project to Support Over 1,000 Children

As the holiday season approaches, The Center for Children & Families is excited to announce the launch of its annual Christmas Project, an initiative aimed at providing gifts and essential items to over 1,000 children from hard places across the region.

For over two decades, this community-driven project has brought hope and joy to children in
foster care, as well as those facing poverty and hardship, making the holiday season a brighter
time for the most vulnerable.

The Christmas Project, now in its 23rd year, began when the leadership of The Center
recognized a gap in holiday support for the children they serve. That first year, the local
community came together to donate 50 soccer balls for children in foster care. Since then, the
project has grown exponentially, thanks to the generosity of businesses, community members,
and organizations. Today, the initiative serves over 1,000 children annually, providing not just
gifts, but also winter clothing, food, and basic necessities.

How the Community Can Help
This year, The Center is calling on the community to continue its tradition of giving by helping
make the holidays special for children in need. There are several ways to get involved:
• Sponsor a Child’s Wish List: Community members can sponsor a specific child,
providing items such as a full outfit of clothing and a toy from the child’s Wishlist. The
cost of sponsorship is typically between $100-$150 per child. To request a child’s wish
list, visit https://standforhope.org/the-christmas-project/
• Donate Toys or Clothing: The Center is accepting donations of new toys, clothing, and
other essentials. Items such as sports balls, dolls, board games, and gifts for teens (e.g.,
headphones, makeup, blankets) are especially needed. Donations must be received by
Wednesday, December 4th.
• Financial Contributions: Those unable to donate physical items can make a financial
donation by texting “STANDFORHOPE” to 53555 or visiting
www.standforhope.org/give. Every donation helps bring joy to a child during the holiday
season.

The Impact
Children served by The Christmas Project come from diverse backgrounds, many having
experienced trauma, neglect, or economic hardship. For these children, Christmas can be a
difficult time, but with the community’s support, The Center ensures they feel seen, valued, and
cared for. The project provides not just material gifts, but also the hope and joy every child
deserves during the holidays.

Join Us in Spreading Holiday Cheer
The Center for Children & Families invites everyone in the community to join us in creating
moments of joy for children who need it most through The Christmas Project. Your generosity
can turn a difficult holiday into a time of happiness and hope. Whether through donations,
volunteering, or sponsoring a child’s wish list, your contribution will make a real and lasting
difference. Let’s work together to bring the true spirit of Christmas to every child in our
community.
